[edit] Eh
"Eh" pronounced : like "A" in the song "A,B,C,D,E,F,...," is a word of Canadian origin that dates back to the days of confederation.
[edit] Origins
The origin of the word is thought to derive from Canada's first Prime Minister; John A MacDonald. Profoundly touched and influenced by their great and drunk first Prime Minister, Canadians everywhere united and decided to commemorate him by adopting his initial "A" into their everyday language.
[edit] Everyday Use
110% of Canadians are unable to speak a complete sentence without saying the word "Eh" at least 3 times. A typical Canadian can often be heard speaking a sentence similar to the following: "Eh, can I have that Eh, Eh? Well Eh, what about that, Eh?"
[edit] Phobias and Illnesses
"Eh"aphobia refers to people who have a distinct ear for picking up on the word "eh" and cannot stand the sound of it (Americans). In severe cases, they will scream in attempt not to hear the word. In minor cases, they will make lame jokes such as "so you're from Canada, "Eh"? in attempt to hide/overcome their phobia.
"Eh"epititis refers to people who use the word more than the average person (Canadians). They are unable to control the frequency of the use of the word and they have a tendancy to use it in inappropriate places.
